Stranger @ Shanthi Nagar

I planned for a Coimbatore trip in the last weekend. My  KSRTC bus was booked at 11.03 PM from shanthi  nagar satellite bus stand .I left  my home very early in the evening that Friday to complete  shopping for my uncle before  dinner.  I finished my shopping very soon than expected and had 3 hours time to spend. I dint want to be in the busy, noisy and polluted bazaar streets for long time. So I finished my dinner and went to the bus stand.

9:05PM; Two hours to go, I went into Big Bazaar near the bus stand to pass some time. Within few minutes, an announcement came in…

“We kindly request the shoppers to bill their items in the nearby billing counters. It’s closing time. Thanks for shopping”

I came out and sat in the steps before the B.B entry gate. Some college guys were sitting in the other end of the steps. I could see the road sides becoming dark as all the shops were closing and traffic was also reducing in the greeny lalbag road before the bus stand. After sometime a guy in full formals (-tie) looking as if he comes straight from office came beside me and sat.

We both were watching at two persons checking the number plates of all the buses standing in the platform before us. At last those two guys went to the drivers standing in the corner and enquired about a bus. We understood that they were searching for a bus by referring their TRIPCODE in the ticket with the Number Plate of the buses. After hearing to this we both busted out laughing.

We started chatting then… Initially discussion was about the transport corporation of Tamilnadu and Karnataka, and then we jumped to the live topic “travel tonight”.

Where are we travelling? Why are we travelling?

These two questions took us back to our college life for answering. That day was 15th day for him in Bangalore. He couldn’t spend weekends alone here and the city seemed to be very strange than me. What attracts people to Bangalore? Why he hates this place? And lot may experiences of him in 15 day Bangalore life were told. Most of those were explained as jokes with a comment.

Hunt for a house:
At Hebbal, a lady showed him four walls with an asbestos roof at the third floor of a building and asked for Rs 50000 as advance and Rs3000 as rent.

-East or West PG is best, at last he settled down in a PG for Rs 4000 W/O food.

Journey to office:
He doesn’t know the topography of the places here, so he used to hire an auto to his work place every day for Rs100. Suddenly one day he decided to walk and got to know that twenty minutes journey in auto was actually 3 KM from his PG.

-Next to Chennai, Bangalore has lot of big cheating autowalas in south India.

Bars and Temples:
He is watching that bars in Bangalore are opened very early along with temples it seems. And he could find people all the time in bars.

-They love to see the brandy first before wife in the morning.

PGmate :
A decent looking PG mate is an IT employee, very cool guy and sponsored drinks in the first weekend had stolen Rs1500 from his purse three days ago.
