Power of Identity
Another working day, I have taken the same route which
I have been using for the past one and half years to office by walk. That route
was not for workers coming by vehicles because there was no proper road to
drive the vehicles to the campus parking from the entrance.
It was around 8:30 AM; that was a remote residential area
where you hardly see vehicle movement in the streets. I was walking alone in
one of such calm and cold streets, even stray dogs were not seen that day. To my
surprise an auto came and stopped next to me, a lady who was sitting behind put
her head outside and asked “global
village” ?(My IT PARK NAME) .
There was no way through that street and more over it was
very complex for me to explain her right route which normally vehicles takes to
the campus. By mistake she has taken wrong route and now locked up in a street
of confusing residential area.
So I said “you have to take a long way back to the main road
and take other route to Global village..And this is a dead end road….BTW..eehhh
I’m also going to the same place if you
wish ,you can come with me..its 5-10 min away from here by walk..which takes us
to other gate”.
She thought for a moment and said ok. She cut off her auto
at the same place and joined with me. At the end of the street, a construction
work for a house was going on. There is a small way near to that construction,
only one person can walk through it between a compound wall and construction site.
But that usual way blocked with some constructional stuff. So I had to walk
into the construction area to cross. I jumped in and walked few steps between
the iron pillars put up for concrete ceiling then I realizing that she was not
following me. When I turned back she was standing some ten meters away from me
on the end of that road itself.
Looking at me she asked “Is
there a way???” with much hesitation
on her face.
I realized my stupidity that moment. How would a lady be comfortable
to walk with a stranger through a dark constructional area when no man around???. I casually put my hand inside my pocket and taken out my ID card with that rope
wound around my palm. Then I gently waved my hand as a sign of showing a way out there.
Hesitation flew away; Big smile on her face, she was ready to come through that
way. My ID showed its power again. After crossing the construction site we
caught a next street, I expected some questions from her then...Like………
Are you staying in this area?
Which project are you working?
Nothing was asked. Silence prevailed. But I could hear this
sound alone …
Tak...tak...tatak...tak...tak…tatak…..
I slowly looked at her coming behind me in my corner eyes. It
was her heel’s sound. She was a very short lady and wearing high heels. She was
trying to match up with my speed. So she walks two steps and run two steps… I
felt like laughing for a moment and controlled my emotion and speed as well. So
that she would walk comfortably with me.
The moment we got inside the campus gate
watchman standing next to it asked us to show our ID cards. Later she started
bombarding questions to me more than I expected. I dint even get a chance to
ask anything, not because of she spoke nonstop.. she dint actually.. but she told all info about herself before I
ask anything .(Info are just about her project and work nothing else. )
What a fluctuation of emotions!!
Security plays a great
role in women’s emotions!!!
